Finding Balance As An Entrepreneur: a Q & A with Jennifer Donogh

I’m so excited to share today’s “Real Woman. Real Balance” interview with you today. I met Jennifer through Twitter. She hosts chats and forums for young female entrepreneurs and has created a really great environment for women to come together, share ideas, collaborate and support one another in what can be a sometimes isolating career path. She is a great support and a great inspiration for finding balance in the midst of a busy life.

Young Female Entrepreneurs

1. Hi Jennifer! First off, for those who don’t know, what is Young Female Entrepreneurs?
YoungFemaleEntrepreneurs.com is a platform for discovering new people, brands, and resources for entpreneurial women in their 20s and 30s. We have a weekly live stream event that is produced by my company that is free and open to anyone to attend. It’s a great way to hear from experts, find out about cool events, and meet new people. YFE also has amazing women coordinating in person meetups around the US.

2. What inspired Young Female Entrepreneurs?
The vision for the platform stems from the feedback from the community as we’ve grown. Young women who own a business do not see themselves as at a disadvantage. We want to connect with one another for support and for fun. We’re always looking for new ways to improve ourselves and our businesses and use our passions and talents to make the world a better place. In 2013 you will see YFE focusing on the live stream events, working towards better supporting our in person meetups, and virtual community to meet those needs.

3. What do you do when you’re not working?
Right now I’m focused on growing Ovaleye.tv, but when I’m not in the studio or behind the computer I love to cook, workout, watch funny movies and play with my son outside.

Balance Entrepreneurs

4. As you know, The Balanced Life is all about empowering women to approach health & fitness with a balanced mindset. How do you handle the pressure as a woman to look or act a certain way?
It really is about priorities. I’m no where near a master at this, but I know that when I’m at my best, mind and body wise, is when I’m focused on what I want out of life. Surround yourself with positive affirmations, people and imagery. Do this and the pressure from the outside will weaken.

5. What does balance mean to you during your current season of life?
Achieving a balanced life to me means feeling happy and purposeful.

6. Who/what inspires you?
People I admire, live video, and my family.

7. What is your best tip for maintaining a healthy lifestyle in the midst of a busy life?
I’ve realized controlling my thoughts and putting what I want into focus is the best way for me to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

8. What projects are you currently working on that you’d like us to know about?
Ovaleye.tv is the center of my world right now outside of family. I love my work with Young Female Entrepreneurs and the women I am privileged to interact with on a daily basis– it’s phenomenal. It all fits nicely into the Ovaleye TV bubble now, and I love that.

Be sure to follow Jennifer on Twitter to stay up to date with all of her inspiring endeavors. And if you’re a young female entrepreneur or WANT to be, be sure to check out the YFE website for opportunities to participate and get involved.
